Growing up, Drew participated in lots of team sports and was looked to for leadership within many of those teams.
After high school, Drew took a position as an assistant coach on his former high school hockey team and really enjoyed the experience. “It was a while ago now, but I remember the excitement of watching as these players would implement strategies we would teach and the growth they experienced throughout the seasons.
Drew became interested in entrepreneurship in his late 20’s.
“At the time, I had recently started my first sales job selling radio advertising. And because it was in my home town and I knew a lot of business people, it was pretty easy for me to make a living at it. But two superstars within the office made double what I was making, and that was motivating me to get better at it.”
Not long after starting that sales job Drew learned about network marketing, and because that industry focused so much on personal growth and development, he jumped at the opportunity.
“Based on my team athletic experience, it made sense to me that positive thinking was something worth studying, and it seemed like that might help me get better at my job.
I immersed myself in personal development and started consciously hanging around people with positive attitudes. I couldn’t get enough of it.” But, as much as he immersed himself in all the personal development, it wasn’t showing any results in helping his radio sales grow or his network marketing business.
“About a year into my radio sales job, one of my network marketing company leaders suggested I go to an event put on by the company’s lead sales trainer Jay Sargeant. I got on the phone with Jay, and he told me about his Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) based sales training called Paradigms of Persuasion and suggested that this training would certainly help me in my radio sales job.”
That weekend training event was in late August of that year, and by the end of September, Drew knew that investment was paying dividends. “September of that year, I had blown by my best sales month ever, and by October, I was competing at the top of the board with those top two salespeople. My manager was blown away, and so was the rest of the sales staff. They began asking me questions about what I was doing, and before I knew it, I was teaching Jay’s NLP based communication strategies to other salespeople.”
It’s been said that if you want to master something, teach it, and Drew was learning these techniques as a result. “The NLP based techniques and strategies are all about learning how to communicate on a cellular level with yourself and others. No matter what position I’ve found myself in over the years, I’ve found them to be extremely helpful in all areas of life for those that learn how to master them.”
Launching a Brand New Business With The NLP Techniques
In 1995, while Drew was working as a Marketing Director for a professional hockey team in Southern California, he got a call from his old friend Jay who invited him over for dinner and a hot tub as he had something important to discuss.
“It was interesting as Jay had remained in the network marketing industry; he also knew that I had decided it might not be my cup of tea. But since Jay’s wife was a gourmet cook, I was really looking forward to that dinner.”
During that dinner and hot tub, Jay told Drew he was going to start his own network marketing business out of his office above his garage and wanted Drew to be one of his key leaders.
“Although I was flattered to be one of just a handful of people he initially approached about his new venture, I had pretty much decided that I was done with the network marketing industry and had all kinds of objections to the offer, mostly centered around products, etc.”
Then Jay said something that Drew considered very profound; “Drew, we’re not going to build an empire based solely on the products, we’re going to build it based on the NLP communication strategies model, and I need more people that know how to teach that.”
“The more I thought about that aspect, the more it began to make sense and since I was now based right in the heart of the launch and given that I had a job that would allow me to start helping to build the company on a very part-time basis I jumped in.”
They had a great run! Within seven years, the company had grown to over $550,000 in sales and attracted more than 300,000 distributors worldwide. Unfortunately, due to several circumstances beyond anyone’s control, the company ended up going out of business, but Drew had learned a valuable lesson.
“That experience, combined with my earlier coaching experience, taught me that I was born to be a teacher/coach. It was so much fun watching and experiencing the growth in the people I was coaching.”
A Self-Evaluation Session Launched a Search For More
Around 2006 while Drew was working for an entrepreneurship-based fortune 500 sales organization, he began questioning the “real” validity of the personal development and positive thinking techniques he had mastered over all those years of practice.
“I was doing a self-evaluation exercise that year around Christmas, and I realized that while I had things over here that I was satisfied with and had been satisfied with, there were still some things going on in my life that I wasn’t satisfied with and had not been satisfied with for some time.
“I thought; I must be missing a piece to this puzzle, and I went looking for answers.” He began studying the works of Dr. Wayne Dyer, Eckhart Tolle, and Dr. Michael Beckwith, among others of that mindset.
“I spent several years immersed in more of the spiritual side of life, and while it felt like there was probably something to all this, the dots were not really lining up yet.”
In 2010 Drew attracted someone that taught him about the benefits of meditation and then attracted a teacher that taught him some basic meditation techniques.
“I had never meditated before and at the time thought most of that kind of stuff was airy-fairy to me. I wasn’t meditating every day, but when I was, it felt good. Then I attracted a teacher that I could relate to that taught me about the principles of Law of Attraction in a way that I could understand."
“During this time period, I wasn’t exactly sure where this was all headed,” says Drew reflecting back. “I didn’t have a formal ‘teacher’,”
"I had no previous background in all this spirituality work. What I can say about that time period was that I just kept feeling better and better about my life in general. I was just a happier person, and I figured that it was worth the time I was putting in.”
2016 was a year of tremendous growth for Drew in his practice, and although he wasn’t sure what it was all leading to then, he found himself getting more and more impulses that, when followed, would put him in the right place at the right time.
Things were just simply “working out” easily and effortlessly more and more consistently. “As I look back on that year, I realize now that what I was doing was building my awareness muscle. Which is now something I teach right up front in my course. It’s an essential aspect of doing this work, but I didn’t know anything about that at the time.”
In early January of 2017, Drew received a strong impulse based on a conversation he had with a friend from New York from five years earlier.
“In 2012, I was talking with my friend in New York about a project I was working on, and she asked me if I had ever thought about looking into Meetup to see if there might be a group around me that I might be interested in connecting with. I instantly thought it was some kind of dating thing and just dismissed it. But that conversation instantly popped into my head at that moment, and it was so strong that I couldn’t ignore it.”
Drew pulled up Meetup on his computer, set up an account, did his first search for local groups, and right in the center of his screen, as if it was planned, was a local Law of Attraction group that was meeting toward the end of the month.
“I remember thinking, man, this stuff is powerful! Although I still wasn’t all that sure what it was all about. After that first meeting, I was standing in the lobby, meeting all these new people, and the facilitator came up to introduce himself and just smiled and said, “look at you all lit up!”
I didn’t even know what that meant, but I was pretty sure it was positive in these circles.”
The group met once a month for regular meetings, and the facilitators hosted potluck dinners at their house several times a year for the next couple of years, and Drew attended almost every event. “The monthly meetings were great, but the potluck dinners were really incredible. We would have 25 to 40 people having leading-edge type conversations. The high energy was very palpable.”
The Potluck Dinner in 2018 Changed His Course
It was at the holiday potluck dinner in 2018 that the initial idea of Drew’s revolutionary new course would pop into existence. “I had a conversation with Kevin, one of the hosts and the facilitator of the monthly meetings, I was sharing some experiences I had been having with him, and he said to me; “Drew, I’ve been coaching this stuff for almost ten years, and I’ve never seen anyone grow as quickly as you have into this work.”
And then he asked the question that got the ball rolling for the course. He asked Drew what he thought was the biggest reason for his rapid growth in tapping into consciousness as rapidly as he had?
Drew shared with Kevin that he had pieced together some of the principles of NLP with some tenets of both meditation and Law of Attraction as the basis for his personal meditation practice, which got all his senses and his physical body involved in the process.
After Drew described the foundations of his practice, Kevin’s comment was, “when you’re ready to teach that, let us know because that sounds powerful.”
The Book Which Provided The Inspiration
But it wasn’t until Drew read the book “Stealing Fire” How Silicon Valley, The Navy SEAL’s and Maverick Scientists Are Revolutionizing the Way We Live and Work by behavioral scientists Steven Kotler & Jamie Wheal that he fully comprehended the forces he had tapped into with his practice.
“Until I read that book, I had no idea that scientists had done so much studying on getting into what they call 'The State of Flow'. I was blown away page by page. Here I was practicing what I was thinking was 'hacking consciousness', and virtually everything I was experiencing; they were described as people being in 'The State of Flow'.
According to the authors, there are many different methods people have experimented with to rapidly get into these altered states of consciousness, such as “The State of Flow.” A few examples are: extreme sports like base jumping or downhill mountain biking, hooking yourself up to a computer that sends high vibration frequencies to your brain, or micro-dosing with psychedelic drugs, to name a few.
“The more I read, the more I realized that most of the methods people were experimenting with to rapidly get into altered states of consciousness such as “The State of Flow” the more it became apparent that most of them were not sustainable.
And my experiences had taught me that not only were the methods I was using to attain these altered states of consciousness sustainable. They were also allowing me to retain, sustain, and maintain those states throughout the entire day!
That’s when It dawned on me that the world needs to know about the methods that I had been guided to co-create.”
Important acknowledgements from Drew!
Before we go further please allow me to acknowledge and appreciate some of the teachers that assisted in allowing this program to "flow" to me and through me, such as:
And a special acknowledgement of appreciation to Kevin & Suzanne Young for hosting all the local Law of Attraction based MeetUp's over the last several years of growing into this work.
Those face-to-face leading-edge conversations were a catalyst to bringing this work into this time space reality.
Along with the hundreds of hours between rides while driving for Lyft for four years listening to Abraham Hicks videos.
In fact, it was listening to those video's that inspired me to allow these techniques to grow! Why?
Because the common theme from people asking questions was, " I get into alignment, or 'states of flow', with source during meditation, but how to I sustain that throughout my day?"
“That question was received by my guides which allowed me to create the techniques and which I now teach in a course called Conscious Flow State Activation 1.0"
